Since we are a smaller Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle breeding program, it allows us to focus on a few litters a year so we can commit our time to making sure each puppy is happy, healthy and thriving. We do this by following a puppy curriculum (Bad Ass Breeder Program by Jeanette Forey) that exposes them early on (starting day 3) to a variety of sights, sounds, smells and new environments, this is called ENS/ESI (Early Neurological Stimulation & Early Scent Introduction). Exposing the puppies safely to new situations and people, helps them to become a well rounded pup and teaches them that the world isn’t a scary place and that people are kind. It builds resilience and confidence and has shown to improve cardiovascular performance, greater resistance to disease, more tolerance to stress, and stronger adrenal glands and heart beats. We carefully handle the puppies daily, and hold them close to our faces and hearts, performing touch tolerance exercises that will build upon their love for those extra cuddles and snuggles and make grooming and vet visits a breeze.

We start the potty training process at 3 weeks old, as well as introductions to crate training. These two go hand in hand, and will make the transition into your home much easier. Our pups go home loving their crate and knowing that’s their safe space to relax. We introduce them to a variety of new sights, sounds, people and take them on car rides, introduce them to different floor textures, vacuum sounds, and play a soundtrack of all the noises they may encounter in their lifetime, so they are well socialized by the time they go home with you. We also take them on wagon rides around the neighborhood so they can learn through new sights, sounds, and smells without their paws touching public ground. Observing is the best form of socialization and its so fun seeing them so curious. In addition, we carefully temperament test each of our puppies before puppy pick day. This helps us match you best to a puppy that would be a great fit for your family and lifestyle and really allows you to see their true personalities and make a decision based as a whole vs a decision made simply on looks and gender alone. We understand you may want a certain gender or color, however, temperament is the most important and should be taken into consideration, but of course you can choose any pup you desire. Human focus, an easy going temperament, and health is our top priority in our doodle puppies. There is nothing better than feeling loved and understood with the love and comfort of a doodle by your side, and we would love to help you find that here at Colby Trail Doodles.
Communication is Key
We want you to feel special and included in the entire breeding process and we feel that is one of the key differences at Colby Trail Doodles. From moms going into heat, confirmed pregnancy, birth, to the first time the puppies open their eyes, and through their 8 weeks of life spent with us, everything will be documented so you can follow along on your pups journey. This way you feel like you know your doodle puppy long before they go home with you, as well as getting to know our family and how we raise our puppies. Being a part of the process is a very intimate and exciting experience for new puppy parents, and we love the new relationships we form during this time. Strong relationships with puppy parents is very important to us, as we will always give you a lifetime of support and helpful advice whenever asked whether its with a phone call, text, email, or video call, we are here for you. Also, it is our responsibility to take any of our puppies back at any given time, should one of our puppy parents decide they can no longer care for one of our doodles. Of course this is not our wish and hope this isn’t the case, but sometimes life happens and we understand. Feel good knowing that your puppy will always have a safe and loving place to return to at Colby Trail Doodles. We also, love getting testimonials and updates with pictures of our past puppies, so please send us all the puppy picture spam, we are here for it!

Breeding Mamas and Care
Our Goldendoodle and Bernedoodle moms are our family, and a happy healthy mom is so important for having happy and healthy pups. We give them top quality nutrition, frequent grooming and baths, regular vet checks and reproductive vet visits to ensure they are in optimal health, mastitis checks after pups are born, daily baths to help with cleanliness when pups are nursing, daily vitamin supplements, temperature checks, and a lot of extra love and praise. The whelping box is in our master bedroom and also the guest room where we never leave their side, so we can ensure everyone is thriving. We are always on high alert and will do anything to make sure our Doodle moms are safe and comfortable and will do whatever it takes to help them. We temperature control the whelping room and play soft calming music, and white noise at night to condition the pups to night time, provide warm comfy bedding, and dim the lights for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. After a few weeks, we expand the whelping box and move them to our living room at week 4. Week 4 is a big transition for the puppies since they become more active and need to adjust to new environments, explore and learn about the world. Being in our living room, the pups don’t miss a beat with their socialization and desensitization to noise, they are a part of our everyday hustle and bustle and get tons of cuddles. Our Doodle moms stay with their puppies until go home day, they nurse them for 5 weeks and then once weaned, they continue to nurture and comfort the pups, they teach them how to interact and accept affection and learn manners. Puppies also learn from interacting and playing with their littermates. The Doodle puppies learn and grow so much in the 8 weeks they are with us. It’s fascinating how quickly they change and blossom into the perfect family pup.
